Smiley Little Turtle

Between moving her head all around like a little turtle, constantly smiling and scooting around on her tummy, at six weeks today Cora is continuing to grow stronger and is getting cuter every day! Today at new moms group she weighed in at 6 lbs 11 ounces, hooray!! All the round-the-clock feedings and endless pumping sessions seem to be finally paying of, at least a little bit!

Tomorrow Cora goes to Boise to meet again with her cleft palate specialist to figure out more details on when she will get her surgery. We are thinking it won't be for a year but we will find out more specifics while we are down there.

If Cora is good, perhaps we will find a creepy mall santa to subject her to for her first Christmas experience!

Big Six!

At 5 weeks old today, little bitty Cora weighed in at 6 lbs, 6 oz- the most she's ever weighed!  It's amazing how happy mom and dad are!!  All the late night feedings, pumping and serious sleep depravation is finally paying off. Cora is getting much better at eating bigger quantities and sometimes she even finishes her bottle off in half an hour. We've come such a long way from the grueling 5-20ccs in an hour ...

We are so thankful that Cora continues to grow stronger and bigger everyday. I think she even smiled today!

Cora's first smile?
Also, this past week Cora helped us find the perfect Christmas tree!

A few cute videos ...

Welcome to the World Cora Azalea!

At a month old, Miss Cora has had quite a busy first few weeks of life! Cora accidentally forgot to grow the roof of her mouth while she was developing, so mom and dad (and the grandparents and Aunt Marisa) have been busy figuring out how to feed her with a special bottle and are continuously learning how to take care of her other cleft palate shenanigans. It's been challenging, but because she is so darn cute, it is totally worth it :) She will have a surgery or two to fix her palate when she is about a year old and will most likely have speech therapy for a few years, but right now we are just trying to put some weight on her tiny little bones!  So, her round-the-clock activities currently consist of eating, pooping, making adorable piggy sounds and sleeping (while making adorable piggy noises).  Today was extra special because she scooted around and stared at her purple elephant. Yesterday she finally got back up to her birth weight of 6 pounds and one ounce! Mom was SO happy!! Hopefully the ounces will continue to stick!

Stay tuned for more exciting Coraisms to come, and enjoy some cute photos below, and don't miss the amazing video Aunt Marisa made at the top of this post!
